Halarialgre
Halarialgre
capital: Zranf
It has changed names and borders as often as its neighbors. Its primary distinction is being above the point at which the great rivers diverge and flow northward (Great North River) to the strait and southward (Fal) to the Sartoran Sea. The area is famed for the hundreds of waterfalls that feed both rivers, so it's a country with a single actual city, Zranf, set well into the mountains along the rocky face of a mountain that had a great landslide some time in the far past.
Halarialgre's geography beyond the river is mostly hills and marshland. The origin of the name Halarialgre relates to those waterfalls.
Its (dubious) historical distinction (in modern times) is being the place where Norsunder began the invasion that came to be known as the Norsunder War. Zranf's great fortress, built into the side of a cliff, served as Norsundrian HQ for the northeastern sector of the Sartoran continent, and took a lot of damage that was still being repaired years after the war ended. Most of the population fled, except for infestations of Norsundrian renegades when the war ended, which led to its becoming a client of Enaran-Adrani trade, but it resisted being incorporated into that kingdom, especially its tax structure.
Its southern border is Fal (Kerga) whose border, and name, often changes.
