Rich agricultural land that has traditionally been difficult to defend. The people who hang on there tend to be extremely wary of strangers, very tight clans, their houses unprepossessing from the outside, and bastioned. Many underground chambers and tunnels, some forgotten. It has changed hands so much that any ruler who claims the area had better have an elastic sense of ownership . . . and a sense of humor.
