Shingara is a forested land bordered by two rivers that used to lie in the east of what was once Lower Olara, then Ola-Vayir. It has a high number of maulan (there is a platform city near the mountains) and is sparsely populated. It's loosely governed by locals, and all over it's said "Everyone knows everything in Shingara," or "Stuck out like a stranger in Shingara."

They use scavenged wood to make excellent house boats and trade rafts for the long river routes to the sea. These they sell to their neighbors, making an excellent living. It's a wet country--what isn't forest seems to be feeder streams, so many people live on river boats by choice.
