Janil is the castle steward in Mearsies Heili's castle. Her many relations are either staff or part of the supply network^[1]. Janil was raised to her job. She took over as unofficial governess when Clair was small, as her mother neglected her more and more, except for sporadic lessons in magic. Clair has worked hard to make labor easy for Janil, who set herself the task of always making a pleasant home atmosphere for the girls, and for Clair's cousin Puddlenose and the friends he often brings back at unexpected times, for unplanned stays.
