When she travelled to Mearsies Heili she wanted badly to stay there with the Mearsiean girls' gang but felt obligated to stay with Karia.[2] Her sense of obligation got in her way as Karisa resented it, and Liere found it difficult, though Devon meant well. Devon longed to make the Mearsiean girls' lives more orderly, without seeing that that was anathema to them. She ended up moving to a small land where she became a teacher, which satisfied her craving to organize others for their own good.
