Glowglobes are magical light sources, basically spheres of glass with light captured inside. The most expensive ones are the "hundred year" ones, wherein low-ranking mage students practice their magic (or minor mages are employed) laying tons of spells on them so they will last longer. Some, such as the ones put in passageways, glow all the time. Others can be clapped on and off, or ignited or doused by a spoken magic word, depending on whose you buy.[1]
