In a very few places round the world there are accessible hot springs in which beings live. These beings may be regarded as the "minions" of the indigenous beings of this world, that is, they are the ones who most often interact with humans when that is a necessity. One of them has taken shape as a girl for a time, joining the Mearsiean girls' gang. She is known as Dhana Sherwood. She is at her most maddening when questioned about her people as she insists that no human language adequately expresses what life is like for them. They look like facets in a diamond, only constantly moving: they are sometimes described as rifts in the water.
