Closely aligned with Elzhielith through history, and once part of the same kingdom. Broke away after years of war against the Hazanthi Islanders determined to gain land. To pay for the war, there were unwise demands made on everyone except the aristocrats at the top: elsewhere in the world empires were being broken up, so the aristocrats not in the except group organized a secession that, with the Hazanthi watching and eagerly waiting, had to be accepted.

The rich duchy of Ashdria, which hosts the local military training, is aligned in marriage with Elzhiemde, which keeps a power balance with Elzhielith. Otherwise the old capital tends to regard everyone else as country cousins.
