The Bridge is mountainy area fiercely attacked by storms all year round, barren, rocky, frozen for the very long winter. However, that hasn't prevented pirates and brigands from crossing from Toar to Halia, or pirates from taking up residence in order to attack ships making their way through the Narrows.

The Narrows were closed by mages after years of problems, but the land opened again, and thereafter the mages ceased messing with land on a large scale. (See magical oopsies)
