This little land is one of those whose mages experimented with mountain-raising as a defense. Bordering the great bay of Halam, it's the outer reach of a series of kingdoms on the north side of the strait that were established by Sartor aeons ago, were smashed in the Fall, began repopulating just to be overrun by the Venn. For a long time its existence was in secondary service to Venn war ships, and ship building and service frame its economy today. Its rope walks are well known, organized around some peculiar customs that everyone enjoys: the hemp comes from neighboring lands, the rope is made here, and everyone benefits.

Small villages and towns have formed like barnacles around the old Venn castles. These castles have been used as bases from time to time as various enterprising armies try to sweep this way or that.
