Tracers, like wards are another aspect of magic being drawn into the world of politics and conflict. Early tracers were put on precious books to make certain they could be located, and on other precious commodities, the most obvious being the holdings of banks, before it was discovered how to shift banks' contents into liminal pockets.[1] Tracers can thus be put on people, with their consent in light magic, without in dark magic. Wards, of course, had to be developed to negate these.
