The family originated in the north, near the Sheir, a forest where morvende and Dawnsingers lived. Migrated to the south. They were weavers and clothing makers until the one who later renamed herself Mearsieanne took a throne empty because of stalemated noble clashes.

Her great-granddaughter Clair became queen at a young age.

Clair adopted a group of rejects and runaways, and gave them her name.
